Introduction

The Lincoln Clinic and Centre for Psychotherapy provides psychoanalytic psychotherapy treatment through the clinic's assessment and referral service. It also provides training for psychotherapists through its training programme.

The clinic's assessment and referral service is available to self-referred and referred individuals seeking to explore the suitability of psychoanalytic psychotherapy as a treatment for them. An initial consultation with an experienced psychotherapist gives time for exploration and thought before a decision is made about referral for long term therapy. Other options are explored if psychotherapy is not considered appropriate.

Psychotherapy is provided by qualified psychotherapists who work in private practice throughout the London area (North London, South London, East London, West London and Central London) and in many other parts of the UK, including Avon (Bath and Bristol), Bedfordshire, Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Edinburgh, Essex (Colchester and Epping), Hertfordshire, Kent, Manchester, Surrey, Sussex, Wiltshire (Swindon) and Yorkshire (Bradford and Leeds). They see people in intensive psychotherapy as well as people who are able to attend only once or twice a week. Some Lincoln therapists are also skilled at working with couples.

If you are considering psychotherapy but realistically cannot afford a full fee you may apply to the Reduced Fee Scheme which has a limited number of places for three times weekly psychotherapy for people who must be prepared to commit themselves on a long term basis. Treatment under this scheme is usually with a psychotherapist in training.

The Lincoln has a Code of Ethics and an Ethical Committee and is recognised for its high standards of training and the quality of its practising psychotherapists. It is a founder member of the British Psychoanalytic Council (BPC), an umbrella organisation of recognised training institutions. The BPC sets standards which it seeks to promote and maintain in training and practice for the well-being and protection of the general public. All Lincoln qualified psychotherapists are registrants of the BPC.
